Position: Special Education Counselor
Campus/Department: Woodville ISD
Education/Certification:
Required:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in required field of study
- Valid Texas School Counselor Certificate or Valid Texas License as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposes
- Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies including behavioral management
- Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting and implementation
- Knowledge of diagnostic procedures and education of special education students
- Knowledge and experience conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and writing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
- Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students
- Ability to interpret policies, procedures and data
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience: Experience working with students with behavioral and emotional needs
Experience providing counseling as a related service for students served in Special Education
Salary: Based on experience - Part Time Position Deadline: Until Filled
